Dr Haylea Blundell is a specialist orthodontist who has her own private orthodontic practice in Bendigo, Victoria and is the disciplinary lead in Orthodontics for the undergraduate dental and oral health program at La Trobe University in Bendigo. Dr Blundell completed her undergraduate dentistry degree at La Trobe University in 2014. Upon graduating, Haylea moved to Melbourne to work as a dentist in private practice for three years, completing her primary exams through the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgoens in 2016, before moving to Queensland in 2018 to complete her specialist orthodontic degree - Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) at The University of Queensland. In addition, Haylea has also obtained her Membership in Orthodontics by examination with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and is a certified orthodontist through the Australasian Board of Orthodontists.
 
Dr Blundell’s research during her postgraduate training evolved around clear aligners. Her research has received worldwide attention, winning 3rd prize at the World Federation of Orthodontists International Orthodontic Conference in Japan (2020) and being selected in both 2020 and 2021 as an applicant for the Resident Student Scholar Award through the American Association of Orthodontists.
 
Dr Blundell’s research has been accepted for publication in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics and is being published in the October issue this year. Dr Blundell is also a co-author of a chapter in the recently published clear aligner textbook – Orthodontic Aligner Treatment: A Review of Materials, Clinical Management, and evidence.
